Living independently for the first time can be an exciting and challenging time.

Whether you are buying or renting you should remember to:

  • Notify people and companies such as your bank and mobile phone provider of your change in mailing address
  • Have your mail forwarded to your new address
  • Review your Will if you have one; if you do not have one, consider getting a Will
  • Change your address on the Electoral Roll

Northern Territory

Western Australia

If you find yourself in a situation where you need emergency or crisis housing due to family violence or being kicked out, you can contact the Homeless Advisory Service on 1800 065 892 or Crisis Care on 1800 199 008. Shelter WA also have some information about other services that can assist you.

NSW

If you are in NSW and have become homeless due to family violence or being kicked out, you can contact Homelessness NSW on 1800 234 566 or the Domestic Violence Line on 1800 65 64 63.

Victoria

YouthCentral has some great information about what to do and who to contact if you suddenly find yourself needing emergency or crisis housing.

South Australia

If you are in SA and have become homeless due to family violence or being kicked out, you can contact any of the services listed on the SA Government Homelessness Services Provider Directory.
